DVC Availability: Frequently Asked Questions
Not quite! A "Currently Available" result is a great first step, but it does not guarantee that your reservation can be secured.
When you search your dates using our Availability Checker, a green dot means that the room was showing as available at the time of your search. From there, there are still a few important steps before your vacation is officially booked:
- You submit your request to our team.
- We match your request with a DVC Owner who can book your stay.
- The Owner secures the reservation through Disney and provides us with the confirmation number.
Because availability can change at any time, the room you see as "Currently Available" may be booked by someone else before we are able to complete these steps.
We always recommend submitting your request as soon as possible when you find the dates and resort you're looking for. While "Currently Available" isn't a guarantee, it means there is availability to work with — and that's a great place to start!
If you see a "Partial Availability" tag, don't worry—you still have options!
Select the drop-down arrow to open the full calendar view. Here, you'll be able to see exactly which nights within your requested stay are available and which have already sold out.
The calendar also makes it easy to explore alternate dates around your original request. You may find that shifting your trip by a night or two opens up the availability you need.
Tip: If your dates are flexible, the calendar is a great way to find the best combination of dates and availability before submitting your request.
It's possible, but unfortunately, it's very rare.
Once DVC availability has sold out, it typically does not return to the available inventory. If a DVC Owner cancels an existing reservation, Disney generally makes those dates available to someone on the DVC waitlist. Because of the way our business operates, we do not have access to Disney's waitlist, which means we are unable to request or claim those cancelled dates.
That said, "rare" doesn't mean impossible! Availability can occasionally reappear, so it's always worth checking back if your travel dates are flexible.
You can also explore our Confirmed Reservations page to see if another DVC Owner has already secured a reservation that matches your travel plans. Sometimes the perfect vacation is already booked and waiting for you!
It can be confusing to see availability on Disney's website that isn't showing in our Availability Checker. This doesn't necessarily mean that one of the systems is incorrect.
Our Availability Checker is designed specifically around the DVC inventory that is available for us to match with our Owners. DVC inventory is much smaller than the inventory available through Disney's Central Reservations system, so the two can show very different availability.
If you see something on Disney that isn't showing as available with us, don't hesitate to reach out! Our team can help you explore your options and find the best path forward for your vacation.
Our Availability Checker displays DVC inventory up to 11 months before your desired check-in date. If your travel dates are more than 11 months away, you won't see availability yet because DVC Owners cannot book those dates until the 11-month booking window opens.
This means you may be able to select your future travel dates, but availability won't be displayed until those dates fall within the 11-month window.
Planning ahead? You can still use our Cost Calculator to get an idea of pricing for dates more than 11 months away. While it can provide pricing information, availability will not be available until your dates enter the 11-month booking window.
A little extra planning: Our office can also accept your request form up to 12 months in advance and hold it until your booking window opens. This allows us to be ready to search as soon as your dates become bookable, but submitting a request early does not guarantee a successful booking.
